About Neil H. Fishman, CPA
Neil H. Fishman, CPA, CFE, FCPA, CAMS has been in practice since 1989. He is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Oneonta, and is licensed as a CPA in New York and Florida. He is a member of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), the Forensic CPA Society, and the National Conference of CPA Practitioners (NCCPAP). In addition, he is a representative from NCCPAP to the National Public Liaision’s office at the Internal Revenue Service.
Neil served as the President of NCCPAP from November 2018 to 2020. Prior to becoming President, he serviced in various capacities on the NCCPAP National Board, including chair of the Tax Policy Committee from 2008-2011.
In October 2022, Neil was the recipient of the NCCPAP Gold Award, which is given for outstanding service to the Organization and the accounting profession. The Gold Award is special and significant, and it is not given out frequently.
In December 2019, Accounting Today named Neil as one of the TOP 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN THE PROFESSION.
From 2015-2017, Neil served a 3 year term on the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council (IRSAC).
In addition, he was the first president of the South Florida Chapter of NCCPAP (2008-2012), and served as Co-Chair of the National Tax Professionals Symposium in Florida for three years (2011-13).
Neil has authored several articles which have appeared in The CPA Journal, published by the New York State Society of CPAs, California CPA, published by the California Society of CPAs, and Florida CPA Today published by the Florida Institute of CPAs. He has also been quoted in articles that have appeared in the Florida Sun-Sentinel, and Insight Magazine, published by the Illinois CPA Society.
He has given presentations on tax law and fraud to various organizations and group, both to members of the accounting profession and the general public. This includes the Long Island Tax Professionals Symposium, various NCCPAP Chapters, accounting seminars run by the law firm Blank Rome, Alpha Kappa Psi, local Chambers of Commerce, and Keiser University.
In addition, he has done several podcasts with Accounting Today, talking about changes in tax law and the accounting profession. In March 2005, Neil was a panelist on taxtalktoday.tv, an internet webcast run by the IRS, where the topic was “How the Bank Secrecy Act Affects You and Your Clients”.
Neil has assisted in the drafting of tax legislation introduced in the United States House of Representatives, assisted in the drafting of testimony presented to the United States Senate, the United States House of Representatives, and discussed tax issues with key support personnel of the United States Senate Committee on Finance, the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and particpates in IRS Conferences with the accounting profession.
In July 2010, in his capacity as Chair of the National Tax Policy Committee for ncCPAp, he attended the Sentate Finance Committee hearing “The Future of Individual Income Tax Rates: Effects on Economic Growth and Distribution.”
